‘Reet-good Bakers’

Well our festive mince pie Mondays at the RB office have unfortunately come to a close. It was tempting to carry on the experiment in to the New Year, but we decided (for our waistline’s sakes) to call it a day.

Over the last 4 weeks the RB team have been running a blind taste test to find out whom and what makes the perfect mince pie. Every Monday, six of us judged each mince pie on a 1-10 scale (10 being the best) without the effect of marketing, brand perception and pricing. So far it’s been a mixed bag, some surprises, some disappointments but overall some interesting results. Congratulations Morrisons!

Week 1: Rich, lovely pastry, sweet, very moreish
Week 2: Sugary topping, sour, filling not the best
Week 3: Greasy pastry, too sweet, ‘tasted like your granny made them’, good texture, nice filling.
Week 4: ‘Worst out of the lot’, ‘too claggy’, average, bad after taste, bog standard!
